Chapter 7 : In Which Petunia Gets Nerd/Geek Points

One of the things that Petunia has really enjoyed is all of the geekry that she has been able to experience while being here in "Middle Earth." As many of you are probably aware The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug opened December 13th in the US, Petunia was able to join Renee (though she sneaked in, shh) seeing it on December 12th, New Zealand time, which means December 11th in the US. As extra special bonus points (not that they were needed mind you) they saw it at The Embassy theater which is where the premiers that happened in Wellington took place. Although this Hobbit movie didn't premier in Wellington it was still exciting for Petunia and Renee. They found the movie to be quite enjoyable, especially the parts with the dragon!!

Also Lee Pace!!!!

They also visited The Embassy for a special screening of the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special on November 24th. It. Was. Amazing. The crowd was filled with like-minded individuals (Whovians) who were not shy about expressing themselves with cheering, laughing, gasping, etc. Petunia really enjoyed being in such a crowd, it made the special that much more...special and exciting!

Before going to the special on Sunday, Renee took Petunia to a party celebrating Doctor Who that she learned about through the board game group she has been meeting with every other week. She even made a special "T.A.R.D.I.S." pie for the occasion!

Besides the fireworks (which were REALLY CLOSE and STARTLINGLY AWESOME) one of the highlights of the evening was an accidental projection onto a neighbor's house.

It is good to be a geek in a geek community :D

P.S. Moose also received many geek points by going with Renee when she played Advanced Civilization for almost 8 hours...it was surprisingly quite fun though the game didn't *actually* finish :P
